Benefits and rewards for social workers

We offer a competitive salary to our social workers.

For newly qualified social workers a starting salary of £29,033 with progression on passing the council’s assessed and supported probation year.

Experienced social workers can expect a starting salary of between £30,480 and £35,093 depending on experience.

Golden Hello for experienced children’s social workers

For talented, experienced social workers joining our Children’s Family Support and Assessment Teams, during 2017 we are offering a Golden Hello payment of £3,500 on successful completion of a six month probation period.

To be eligible for this award you must be able to demonstrate significant levels of relevant post-qualifying experience, usually obtained from working for at least three years’ with complex child protection and care proceeding cases.

Extra support

All staff joining our social care teams will have tailored induction and coaching, with extra support for Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW) and those returning to social work following a career break.
