Find out which of our collections are available online

Some Oxfordshire History Centre archive and local studies collections have been digitised and are available online. They can be accessed via www.oxfordshirehistory.org.uk which is a single easy-access portal for digitised content from Oxfordshire History Centre and useful websites for Oxfordshire local history and family history research.

Oxfordshire parish records

Parish registers from over 300 parishes have been digitised and available on Ancestry.co.uk to subscribers and are freely available to view at Oxfordshire History Centre and Oxfordshire public libraries. The collections are:

  • Oxfordshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials 1538-1812
  • Oxfordshire, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms 1813-1915
  • Oxfordshire, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns 1754-1930
  • Oxfordshire, England, Church of England Deaths and Burials 1913-1965

Oxfordshire wills and inventories

Our collection of wills and related documents proved in the church courts of the historic county of Oxfordshire, 1516-1857, has been digitised and is available online via FindMyPast website.

Access is by subscription and/or pay-per-view, but free online access is available at the Oxfordshire History Centre and in Oxfordshire public libraries.

Historic published maps

From the collections of Oxfordshire History Centre, selected county maps of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, dating from the 16th to 19th century, are available to view online as hi-res zoomable images.

District valuation maps and books

Oxfordshire History Centre holds District Valuation records, 1910-1915, for the whole of the historic county of Oxfordshire. Digitised images of the valuation maps and books are available to view online.

Oxfordshire tithe maps

Tithe maps (but not the accompanying written awards) for parishes in the historic county of Oxfordshire, 1838-1884, have been digitised and are freely available to view online via our tithe maps page on www.oxfordshirehistory.org.uk

Oxfordshire images

Over 100,000 photographic images of Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley from the 1850s to the present, along with selected prints and drawings are accessible on https://heritagesearch.oxfordshire.gov.uk/images
