Daily living aids you can borrow

How to borrow daily living aids for free from us, and how to return unwanted equipment.

How to order daily living aids

Browse daily living aids by room to find out how they could help you and how to use them.

What happens after you order

The aids will usually be delivered and installed in 5-7 working days, depending on the availability of stock and of technicians.

We will contact you to check you are satisfied that the equipment meets your needs.

We may refer you for a face-to-face assessment if concerns about the equipment or your difficulties have not been resolved. This assessment may take place in a clinic if appropriate. We offer clinics in various locations across Oxfordshire.

Hand or stair rails

All rails are available to owner-occupiers and those living in rented accommodation. After NRS Healthcare installs rails, you are responsible for maintenance. You will need to arrange their removal when they are no longer needed.

The Housing Association and Oxford City Council are responsible for providing their tenants with handrails or stair rails. Contact your landlord if you need them.

How to return equipment

You can arrange for NRS Healthcare to collect unwanted equipment. They aim to collect within 5 to 10 days. Contact NRS Healthcare:

Home assessment for larger equipment and adaptations

If you feel you need more help, you can request a home assessment for equipment, aids and adaptations. An occupational therapist (OT) will visit you at home to assess your needs.

Warning

If you buy privately, Oxfordshire County Council will not refund you the cost of the equipment you bought.
