Faringdon circular walks

Information about two circular walks around the gateway to the Cotswolds.

Walk information

Faringdon sits in the far south-west corner of Oxfordshire and gives a promise of what is to come if you were to venture further into the heart of the Cotswolds. The town is located just off the A420 with good links between Oxford and Swindon and with easy access to the M4 junction 15.

The circular walks explore hills, dales and National Trust woodland.

On Route 1, the 13th century tithe barn at Great Coxwell is a testament to its builders and shows the impressiveness of Gothic carpentry. It was often frequented by William Morris, the great Victorian textile designer, artist, writer and poet. He described the barn as "the finest piece of architecture in England".

Route 2 visits the last folly to be built in England, which is surrounded by scarlet blankets of poppy fields in early June.
