Oxfordshire Reads

Celebration of books and reading

books on a shelf

Oxfordshire Reads is back!

It’s a sizzling summer celebration of books and reading!  We’ll be asking readers to tell us about their favourite books -  historical humdingers and waggishly witty tales to whet our appetites!

Look out for our seasonal eBook and eAudio collections, specially curated to tie-in with this year’s themes – ‘Having a Laugh’ and ‘History Makers’.  And watch out for some light-hearted book banter on our social media platforms!

Grab a book and settle down in the sun in the company of some of the world’s greatest storytellers. You may find your new favourite author…

From Saturday 7 July to Saturday 8 September.

Prize Draw Rules

  • Winners will be drawn at random from all entries submitted to Oxfordshire Libraries by closing time on 8 September 2018. The prize draw will take place shortly after the end of Oxfordshire Reads and the winners contacted by 6 October 2018. Valid entries must include a name and address (these will not be used for any purpose other than notifying winners of their prize).  Entries by under 18 year olds must include their age.  The recommendation half of the postcard should be suitable for display in a public library, and not likely to cause offence.
  • You can hand in multiple postcards to increase the chance of winning, but prizes are limited to one per person. If your name is drawn twice, you will only receive a prize on the first occasion, and another name will be randomly drawn if your name comes up again. Staff from Oxfordshire Libraries are welcome to enter postcards, but are not eligible to win. If their name is drawn, another will be drawn to replace it.
  • All prizes have been generously donated to Oxfordshire Libraries by local attractions and businesses.

You don’t have to pick up a postcard in a library. Download the postcard below in pdf format, fill it in and drop it off at your nearest library.

Go for it! If you need a little inspiration, we’ll be running displays in libraries:

History Makers
Having a Laugh

Our inspiration was the 100th anniversary of women winning the vote and the theme of the Children’s Summer Reading Challenge “Mischief Makers” band takes us from the serious to the funny. Check out the book displays in branches and grab a book the catches your eye!
