Safeguarding and welfare requirements

Childminder safeguarding self-assessment

Providers must take all necessary steps to keep children safe and well. The requirements in this childminder safeguarding self-assessment audit (doc format, 360Kb) explain what early years providers must do to: safeguard children, ensure the suitability of adults who have contact with children; promote good health; manage behaviour; and maintain records, policies and procedures.

Safeguarding policy - A childminder must take seriously the responsibility to promote the welfare and safeguard all the children and young people entrusted to their care.

This Safeguarding Policy (pdf format, 402Kb) is an example which has been developed by the Oxfordshire Safeguarding Childrens Board. Childminders must adapt this policy to be in line with their provision.
