Shotover circular walks
Information about walks around Shotover and Stanton St John.
Starting from the easily accessible Thornhill Park & Ride, these walks are part of a former royal forest and will transport you to a countryside idyll of rural tranquillity, with short routes to attractive Shotover features.
Route 1 provides three possible short walks to CS Lewis Nature Reserve, across Shotover Plain to Shotover Estate and to Shotover Country Park, where you can follow one of three colour-coded walking trails.
Route 2 passes through countryside and the attractive stone village of Stanton St John and the grand Georgian Mansion of Woodperry House, built in 1728-31.
