Beacon lighting

A group of people standing around a beacon.

At 7pm precisely, the Lord Lieutenant will light a flaming beacon, one of over 1000 across the UK, to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One. Military and civic representatives, veterans and specially-invited members of the public will attend the short ceremony.

This is part of the nationwide Battle’s Over programme of remembrance.

The general public may view the lit beacon from New Road or around the Oxford Castle Quarter area.
