Sexual Awareness, Safety and Relationships Training

This training will equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to discuss sex and relationships with children and young people.

The objectives are for attendees to:

  • Understand healthy sexual development in children and young people
  • Learn about sexual consent and current legislation
  • Learn about the impact of adverse experiences (e.g. neglect, abuse, trauma) on sexual development
  • Learn about why children and young people might develop problematic or harmful sexual behaviour, and what to do if there are concerns
  • Feel more confident approaching the subject and talking to children and young people about sex and relationships (including those with disabilities)
  • Gain knowledge of resources and services
  • Understand the role of the foster carer in regards to sex and healthy relationships education.



  • Attendees will feel more confident in talking to and supporting children and young people in regard to sexual awareness and relationships, and what to do if there are concerns.
