Supporting Foster Carers with Behaviour Management

To develop your skills and confidence in supporting carers manage children's behaviour based on the tools covered in the KEEP Training programme for foster carers and kinship carers.

One day course for

One day training for Social Workers and Supervising Social Workers or for anyone supporting foster carers with managing children's behaviour.

Learning Outcomes:

To provide information on the theoretical basis underpinning KEEP, its link with the MTFC programme and other evidenced based programmes based on social learning theory. 

To provide information on the core 'TOOL KIT' covered in the KEEP training programme. These include; using praise and encouragement to promote positive behaviour, setting limits around negative and destructive behaviour, building for success.

To identify ways that you can use this 'TOOL KIT' when supporting carers manage children's behaviour. This includes identify short and long term goals, identifying the pro-social behaviour, breaking down steps, naming behaviour and encouraging specificity, avoiding power struggles, looking after yourself and managing stress.
