General advice:

Selfies and ‘sexting’

  • With the rise of the selfie has come growing concern about young people taking and sharing revealing photos or videos. Watch the new Thinkuknow short films Nude Selfies: What Parents and Carers Need to Know.
  • Net Aware, supported by the NSPCC, has simple advice on what's new in social networking. The site reviews privacy settings, suitable ages and appropriate content for over 60 sites.
  • The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Ceop) is part of UK police and is dedicated to protecting children from sexual abuse wherever they may be. They have a series of four short animated films for parents and carers offering advice on how to help keep their children safe from the risks associated with sharing nude and nearly nude images.
