What we do

The Oxfordshire Foster Care Association (OFCA) aims to support not only foster carers but also their families. Current activities include:

• providing free tickets to foster carers, their birth children and foster children to the Christmas pantomime
• organising foster families to go to premier football matches
• funding activities that are aimed specifically at supporting and recognising the part that the birth children play in foster families.

Other events

The association aims to organise regular events for carers and their families such as; paintballing, go-karting, ice-skating and other fun activities. All of that is dependent upon us raising funds and having sufficient participation from carers.

The OFCA has charitable status and is embarking on a fundraising programme applying for grant aid from various funding bodies. Regular funding is given from the county council.

Automatic membership

Approved foster carers automatically receive membership. The association is run by a committee elected annually at the AGM. 

AGM and bi-monthly meetings

The annual general meeting of the association is to elect members of the committee. All carers are invited to attend to find out more about the aims of the association or perhaps you are thinking about becoming a member yourself. Invites are sent out beforehand.

The committee meets every other month in Oxford and we would love to see you there. You can do as much or as little as you are able to, but the support you will give is invaluable.

Become a committee member

New members of the committee are always welcome. Foster carers interesting in joining the management of the association or just willing to help can contact the OFCA direct. The committee usually holds an informal meeting every couple of months.

Newsletter

The OFCA newsletter is produced four times a year, which is circulated to all members. It contains useful information and events that are happening. The committee member’s names and contact details are always listed in the newsletter. Foster carers can contact any of the committee members for advice and information at any time.
